Business
Shortly after graduating from BYU, I moved to California and entered the world of mortgage lending as a loan processor at Washington Mutual. While there, I learned the ins and outs of the mortgage lending industry, including origination, processing, underwriting, and closing. Later, I moved to Utah where I worked for some of the state’s biggest mortgage companies. In 2013, I decided to help my clients in a more direct fashion by becoming a mortgage loan originator. I quickly obtained my license, and within a few months, was helping hundreds of families in their pursuit to become homeowners. Around this same time, I decided to further my education so I could better serve my clients. I completed my MBA from Westminster College and it has been of great value to both myself and my clients. In 2019, I made one of the best decisions of my career by joining Utah Mortgage Corporation. I was attracted to many things about the organization, but most especially their company-wide focus on customer service, wide range of loan products, streamlined loan process, and relatively low level of bureaucracy.
Cooking
My love of cooking began when I was about 8 years old. I realized that if I was the one to prepare a meal, then I could determine exactly what went into each dish (which meant I could leave out canned green beans if I wanted to!) While I was a young boy, I honed my skills in American, Mexican, Italian, and Chinese cuisine, and then in later years, I added Korean, Thai, Indian, and Southern BBQ to my repertoire. Around 2010, I began to look for the perfect pancake recipe — one that would produce light, fluffy, and moist cakes, but also contain healthy ingredients like whole grains, real fruit, lots of eggs, and not too much sugar. After many renditions and much experimentation, I developed the perfect pancake recipe! As desired, it contained whole grains, real fruit, lots of eggs with little added sugar, and the end result tasted even more amazing than I had ever hoped or thought possible. Once the initial recipe was developed, I experimented with new fruit and flavor combinations, and today, the number of unique varieties total more than twenty. While developing the various pancake flavors, I also created a collection of syrups that complement each pancake flavor. Feel free to visit the Menu page to see a full list of pancake and syrup flavors.
Hobbies
Theron enjoys a wide range of hobbies and interests. Soon after he could walk, he was kicking around a soccer ball and played on teams year-round for a decade. In his early teens, he took up the sport of volleyball and has played it competitively for over 30 years. He follows the men’s and women’s BYU volleyball teams passionately and is a frequent visitor to the rowdy environs of the Smith Fieldhouse for home games. Theron fancies himself as something of a movie buff and enjoys watching Frank Capra movies from the 30s to Marvel movies of today and everything in between. Theron is an outdoorsman at heart and enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, climbing, and exploring.
